Sam Wood grew up in Vermont and attended college at Duke University and medical school at Yale. She trained in Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, and Critical Care in the combined residency/fellowship program at the University of Maryland but was eager to return home to northern New England, which is what brought her to MMC in 2012.  After exploring several different practice patterns, she realized that really she is an ED doc at heart, and currently works full time in the Emergency Department. Her educational focus is on bedside teaching in the ED, clinical reasoning, and case review. In her free time she loves spending time with her family, running, reading, and snowboarding.
