Dr. Hein graduated from the Dartmouth School of Medicine in 2001 and completed her residency in emergency medicine at Maine Medical Center, serving as Chief Resident in her final year. Following residency, Dr. Hein accepted a position as an attending physician in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Maine Medical Center and was honored to be selected as a 2009 American College of Emergency Physicians National Teacher of the Year.

Dr. Hein is the Chief Wellness Officer for Maine Medical Center and the MaineHealth Medical Group and the Associate Director for the Maine Medical Center Department of Emergency Medicine. She is also an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine. Dr. Hein enjoys the wide variety of patients in the practice of emergency medicine and is passionate about educating the next generation of physicians through her work with residents and medical students.

Dr. Hein is married, has four daughters and one son, and spends many hours pursuing her passion of distance running. She has completed more than 60 marathons and half-marathons. Other interests include skiing, traveling and reading.
